Use these steps to test the embedded app and storefront widgets on a development store. Merchants do not need to paste code into theme files.

1. Install

Install from Shopify, approve read_products, read_locations, read_inventory, and write_app_proxy, then open the embedded dashboard.

2. Add locations

Create a manual store or sync Shopify Locations. Publish only the records that should appear on the storefront.

3. Import CSV

Preview a CSV, validate required columns, fix row errors, and run the import. Export and rollback tools remain in the app.

4. Map products

Sync products and map variants or SKUs to locations so product pages can show nearby availability.

5. Add app blocks

Add the full locator block, product nearby block, collection availability block, floating button, or dealer form in the Shopify theme editor.

6. Use app proxy

Open the storefront locator at /apps/nearstock/locations and SEO detail pages at /apps/nearstock/location/{handle}.

7. Review dealer forms

Submit a dealer application from the storefront, then review the redacted inbox in the embedded app.

8. Check analytics

Open anonymous events for searches, no-result markets, locator views, and directions clicks. No customer identity is used.

Theme editor deep-link pattern

After installation, merchants can open the current theme editor and add NearStock blocks to page, product, or collection templates. The app also exposes /apps/nearstock routes through Shopify app proxy after Partner Dashboard configuration.
